The Seiko "Peace Clock Tower" in Hiroshima with daily chimes

The Seiko "Peace Clock Tower" in Hiroshima, Japan

The bell, which rings every day at 8:15 a.m., appeals to the whole world: “No more Hiroshima.”

Date of construction: October 28, 1967

At the top of the tower, which consists of three iron columns, each rotated 60 degrees, is a spherical clock pointing in three directions. (Approximately 20 m high)

It was built by the Hiroshima Koijo Lions Club in response to the permanent preservation of the Atomic Bomb Dome and every day at 8:15 am, the time when humanity was first baptized by the atomic bomb, it is unveiled to the whole world.

The bell tower's chimes urgently demand: "No more Hiroshima." This chime was selected by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1996 as one of the "100 Japanese Sounds to Preserve."

(The entire soundscape including the bell on display at the Peace Memorial Museum and used at the Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 6, and the “Peace Bell”)
