Die historische Ahlbeck Uhr - Sammler-Uhren

The historic Ahlbeck clock

Our Historical Clock

The striking Art Nouveau clock has adorned the pier forecourt since 1911 and has been a popular motif for vacation photos and postcards to friends and relatives ever since. Over the past 100 years, it has changed color several times and received a modern radio-controlled clockwork, so it no longer needs to be wound manually every week as before. The clock's distinctive features include its gleaming gold decorations, three clock faces, and the anemoscope that indicates the current wind direction. As in its early years, it remains a popular meeting place for vacationers and locals alike.

Historic Clock Ahlbeck

history

Another Ahlbeck landmark has adorned the beach promenade since 1911: The triangular clock was donated by Berlin bather Maria Grunack, who used it to express her loyalty to the imperial spa. In her time, the pendulum-driven clock had to be wound weekly; today, the clockwork is fully electronic, but the original clockwork has been preserved. The Ahlbeck beach clock, with its many wrought-iron ornaments, bears witness to the early heyday of spa tourism in Ahlbeck.
At the beginning of 2025, the clock will undergo a six-month restoration with the goal of restoring its original charm. The original color scheme, construction, and the removal of old modifications will ensure a historically accurate appearance.
