By order of the German Navy, Girard-Perregaux had already delivered around 2000 examples of a splash-proof genuine gold wristwatch with a diameter of about 11 lignes, which was to be worn on a metal chain bracelet.
This was the first known military watch in military watch history. Not a single example of this series is known or preserved
