So far, we have not been able to find complete documentation from Bucherer regarding serial numbers and year of manufacture.
Rule of thumb by era
| Period | Notes |
|---|---|
| Before 1950 | Vintage mechanical models, often limited edition, movement engraved, collector's items |
| 1950–1980 | Mechanical watches with standard ETA calibers, cases usually made of steel or gold |
| 1980–2000 | Quartz models are on the rise, while mechanical collections continue to grow. |
| 2000–present | Mechanical & quartz movements, some limited editions, Swisstime standard movements or modified ETA/Sellita calibers |

The year 2008 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the brand history for Carl F. Bucherer. Since then, the company has produced its own watch movements in-house.
On July 1, 2007, Carl F. Bucherer acquired a renowned workshop for horological complications in the Jura region of western Switzerland. Following a highly successful ten-year collaboration with Techniques Horlogères Appliquées SA (THA) in Ste-Croix, this step was a natural progression.
The workshops were fully integrated into the company and now operate under the name Carl F. Bucherer Technologies SA (CFBT). Today, they serve as a think tank as well as a research, development, and production center.
Currently, the company employs around 20 people, and this number will gradually increase in the coming years. Since 2005, Carl F. Bucherer and THA have been collaborating on an exceptional in-house self-winding caliber called the CFB A1000, which was presented at Baselworld 2008.
In 2009, the brand's first watch model featuring this exceptional automatic caliber was released. For the Patravi EvoTec DayDate, it was enhanced with a specially developed functional module.
But this outstanding watch model from Carl F. Bucherer sets innovative standards not only with its exclusive inner workings, but also with its exterior design.
At Baselworld 2012, Carl F. Bucherer will be showcasing some new products from the Manero Collection as well as the Patravi DayDate and the Patravi TravelTec FourX.
