Glashütte Original is one of the watch brands from Glashütte, Saxony, and is manufactured in the Glashütte watchmaking manufactory. Alongside A. Lange & Söhne, it is considered one of the two most prestigious watch brands from Glashütte. It was acquired by the Swatch Group in 2000.
Story
While the brand's roots date back to 1845, it has existed under its current name since 1994, four years after German reunification. From the beginning, only mechanical watches with in-house movements have been produced. The logo is a modified version of the "Glashütte" logo of the VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (Glashütte Watch Factories).
The brand was acquired by the Swatch Group in 2000.
Today, Glashütte Original watches consist of 95% in-house manufactured components, including the dials. This is unusual even for a luxury watch manufacturer.

Habe 1990 eine Nummernlose GUB Uhr von 10 gekauft die in einem Lappen eingewickelt waren,die der Uhrmacher den nächsten Tag für das doppelte zurück wollte . Diese war jetzt bei einem Uhrmacher der sagte GUB Werk aber mit dem Swiss auf dem Uhrwerk kann er nichts anfangen. Was hat das auf sich?
