Breitling was founded in Saint Imier in 1884 by Leon Breitling.
This watch company first designed a chronograph in 1915, and 19 years later, the signature two-pusher chronograph feature was added. Using the serial number, reference number, and caliber number list, you can identify your antique Breitling chronographs by manufacturer's date.
From 1936, Breitling launched on-board chronographs for aircraft
In 1942, Breitling designed the first Chronomat, while 10 years later the famous Navitimer pilot's watch, which is still popular with watch enthusiasts, was launched.
In 1986, the legendary and successful navitimer model was reissued.
In 1963, Breitling designed the “Top Time” series especially for younger clients
Half of the buyers were younger than 25 years old, but they did not forego Breitling's precision; modern, high-precision chronographs turned young people into Breitling fans.
In 1966 there was a huge selection of Breitling chronographs, three years after the Breitling Chrono wave of 1966 the automatic chrono from Breitling came onto the market, followed in 1975 by the automatic chronometer from.
In 1958, the first Super Ocean series was produced, which can be described as a milestone in Breitling history, the Breitling Super Ocean series is constantly being reissued
The production year of a Breitling Seawolf, which has a water resistance of 3000 meters, can only begin in 2002. This was the year Breitling launched its extremely waterproof diving watch.
Its predecessors, such as the Deepsea, which was first produced in 1983, were also waterproof, but only to a shallower depth.
The display of a second time zone on the Breitling wristwatch was possible from 1982 with the release of the Breitling GMT.
By mentioning the production years of the series, you get an idea of how old your watch is, at most or at least. To get into more detail, you need the serial number and reference numbers.
These are consecutive numbers that are assigned only once. This feature facilitates unique identification
From model year 2000:
The year of manufacture is indicated on the housing between the lug horns starting in 2000. It is indicated as a calendar week and as a year of production, e.g., 2406, meaning 24 KW in 2006.
