Ed Heuer / Leonidas cult wrist chronograph / regatta watch "Yacht Timer" Leonidas / Heuer caliber 7710 from the 1970s, very large and heavy mechanical watch for men in sporting use

Case diameter: a massive 52mm, at 156 grams very heavy for a wristwatch, but then again, it does contain a lot of advanced technology.

Metal case, winding and stop crown unusually located at the "2", white dial with 5 different sectors marked 0 - 4, seemingly necessary for regattas (see photos)

The case back is screwed down to a high standard. It houses an original and signed Leonidas/Heuer mechanical chronograph movement, caliber 7710.

We can't quite understand the function of the two red hands; the long one is a seconds counter and can be stopped, while the thick red one is obviously responsible for these five sectors. It takes about one minute to cross each sector; presumably, the whole concept is a countdown function for the last five minutes before the start and/or crossing the starting line.

This magnificent sports and design icon usually starts up and, when it does, keeps running. Rarely does it fail to start. It can't be set with a single press of "0," but only incrementally, for whatever reason. Sometimes it runs for hours, sometimes it suddenly stops; in that case, it needs servicing.

When the large seconds hand is close to zero, the small sector hand is also at sector zero, but not quite at the beginning of the sector, for some reason. The large seconds hand cannot be set exactly to zero, but only to one second past it.

Perhaps this unusual reset function is part of the design or sailing aspect; we suspect the watch needs servicing and will then function perfectly. However, we cannot guarantee this at present and are explicitly offering it in a partially defective condition requiring service or repair for the aforementioned reasons.

EZ: 2 - good overall condition, few visible signs of age or use, rubber strap very well preserved, usually starts and runs smoothly, but has this malfunction - if it is one - when resetting or "zeroing"
