Absolute rarity and museum collector’s item:

GERMAN PRECISION WATCH GLASHÜTTE SA Men's luxury pocket watch solid 0.900 silver with Glashütte movement and swan neck fine adjustment

Pocket watches from the "German Precision Watch" are absolutely equal to the well-known models from Julius Assmann or Lange & Söhne in terms of quality and vertical integration. However, they are much rarer – and thus more valuable – than those from the large, well-known Glashütte manufactories because – see history below – they only existed and produced for six years.

Description:

Open men's pocket watch in 0.900 solid silver, Glashütte circa 1920, silver cuvette, enamel dial with Arabic numerals, gold hands, indirect seconds at 6

Gold-plated lever movement, compensation balance with blued Breguet hairspring, gold lever, fine Geneva stripe decoration, 1 screwed chaton, swan-neck fine adjustment, case diameter approx. 51 mm

Case numbers 301501 (both lids) and 301521 are almost identical, but that's perfectly normal for such a small manufacturer, since silver cases were purchased or produced on commission and not manufactured in-house—numbered parallel to the movement—so they were almost identical...

This magnificent piece of watch history runs continuously (accuracy not tested)

EZ: 2 - little noticeable signs of age or wear, hardly any scratches or opening marks on the case, dial unrestored flawless, high-precision movement sparkling clean, all lids close tightly and flush, the magnificent artifact starts and runs

The development of the “German Precision Watch Original Glashütte”

1919 to 1925 by the DPUG

The starting point and objective was to develop a watch of comparable quality to the expensive conventional Glashütte precision pocket watch, but at a lower price, using more efficient manufacturing methods. With the manufacturing methods previously common in Glashütte, which required each movement and case to be individually customized, it was not possible to produce large quantities more cost-effectively.

Series of 50 pieces were already the maximum, with 10 to 20 pieces being more common. Until then, there were only three drawings for each caliber: a cross-section of the entire movement, showing the height distribution of the individual parts, and a view of the complete movement from the dial and bridge sides.

The usefulness of these drawings was limited in that they contained no dimensional information. Technological documentation, such as dimensional drawings of the individual parts that also included tolerance specifications, was even nonexistent. Thus, any interchangeability of individual parts was impossible.
