Original Hanhart, presumably new, rare example of a torpedo run-time clock or stopwatch of the early Bundeswehr artillery (because not yet signed "Bund") with typical overhead indirect second hand and onion crown as was common in naval clocks of the Kriegsmarine in the late 1930s, see Knirim p. 258ff

This offer is for a sought-after "full set", i.e. watch in original packaging with guarantee certificate and operating instructions

The German military and precision watch manufacturer Hanhart was and is known for its extremely high-quality chronographs and stopwatches, especially before and during World War II

The rare piece is made particularly rare and authentic by the dial specially developed for submarine use with a tachymeter scale precisely matched to the torpedoes or artillery guns, starting at 6000 meters - the maximum distance of a submarine from the ship to be attacked or the range of an artillery gun - then running down to 0 meters, i.e. the torpedo/grenade impact on the target. If no impact was heard on the torpedo run-time stopwatch after this period, the commander knew that he had missed and had to reload

Above are a few example photos of original models of these very special torpedo run-time watches for the Kriegsmarine of World War II from Konrad Knirim's "Bible of Military Watches". It can be clearly seen that these also came from Junghans and Hanhart on the German side (the photos show a Hanhart with an identical dial/scale structure according to the specifications of the Kriegsmarine)

A super rare piece of military and naval watch history, which very rarely comes onto the market

Description:

The 100% original torpedo run-time clock, stopwatch has the usual dimensions for the navy: 50mm case diameter, unrestored, well-preserved, white, "Hanhart" signed dial with overhead, indirect second hand, onion crown for winding and starting and stopping the stopwatch function

Clean, signed movement, three-lid watch with internal anti-magnetic movement protection lid, both lids close absolutely flush and rock solid

The stopwatch is fully functional! Signed movement clean, case and glass show few discernible signs of age or wear, unrestored dial best preserved

Condition: 1***, presumably unused stock item and therefore new, best collector's condition, dial unrestored and fully signed, flawless! Hardly any discernible signs of age or wear, original packaging and papers also appear as new. Winds smoothly, starts and runs through
