A very fine, functional, unsigned IWC observation watch Cal. 67 of the III. Class or, from 1943, the "extended 2. Class" of the Kriegsmarine during World War II.

A watch from this model series - this one signed "KM" and with steel hands, but also Cal 67 - is described in Konrad Knirim's "Bible of Military Watches" on page 241 (see photos).

Case diameter: 48mm, very flat so that it fits easily into the uniform pocket of the watchman, luminous Arabic numerals and hands, circumferential railway minute track and an oversized indirect second at the "6" o'clock, typical of the Kriegsmarine's observation watches, for better readability

The luminous hands and luminous numerals in particular prove the military use; if it were not military, it would have to be a tailcoat watch due to its flat dimensions, and IWC has never produced tailcoat watches with luminous hands and numerals or Breguet hands, but only those with elegant, slim and blued steel hands.

Pressed unsigned steel caseback, case number: 1048338, high-precision IWC movement caliber 67, spotless and in excellent condition

The wonderfully rare third-class observation watch runs continuously (accuracy not tested)

EZ: 1 - 2 - best technical condition, hardly any signs of age or wear, lid closes flush, dial unrestored flawless, starts and runs
