Absolute rarity and museum collector’s item:
IWC International Watch Schaffhausen "KM" signed observation watch / deck watch 2nd class "M 12683" of the U-boat weapon of the Kriegsmarine WW2 with super rare luminous dial from the Second World War
Exactly 1,000 of the IWC Kriegsmarine observation watches with luminous dials were produced for the U-boat force (there were actually just under 1,000 U-boats, or at least that's how many were planned until the "final victory"). According to the IWC archive, these were delivered to the Kriegsmarine by Gerl & Schipper in Cologne between September 7 and November 8, 1944.
Considering that 67.5% of all German submarines - and thus their "IWC luminous numeral example" - were sunk and destroyed, only 325 examples could have survived World War II.
After a certain loss due to loss in inheritance, disposal due to ignorance, etc. in the last 80 years, it can be assumed that today a maximum of 250 pieces of this museum artifact of military watch history still exist worldwide.
The museum artifact of this offer is therefore the rarest military watch not only from IWC but also from the Kriegsmarine in World War II.
It is a rare authentically signed museum artifact (see photos)
The provenance and military use by the Kriegsmarine during World War II is documented by the Kriegsmarine signature "M 12683" on the back of the lid and the note "II. Kl." Only in the Kriegsmarine were pocket and deck watches classified and signed according to quality in various classes during World War II.
In addition, the oversized indirect second shows that it is an observation watch
There were clear regulations as to how many deck watches of which classes had to be on board at all times
