A luxury legend of marine / regatta watch history: the Lemania Elvström Automatic Chronograph Regatta! Delivered in an ultra-rare and coveted full set with original box and papers.

Description:

Lemania Regatta Elvstrom, caliber 1345, titanium case, automatic movement, 10-minute regatta countdown chronograph function.

Case diameter: 42 mm, original crown and chrono pushers

How the Regatta Timer Works: The Lemania Regatta Caliber 1345 is a modified chronograph with a flyback function. It has a crown for setting the time at 3 o'clock and a pusher at 2 o'clock for starting/resetting the countdown. Below the dial is the indicator disc, available in black, red, and blue. Five round holes are cut out of the dial between 10 and 2 o'clock.

When the chrono is activated, the five dots turn blue and the second hand returns to 60. Releasing the pusher starts the countdown and sets the second hand in motion, counting backward from 60 to zero. The indicator disc runs continuously clockwise. After one minute, the first dot turns red, and after five minutes, all five dots turn red. One minute later, or after six minutes, the first dot turns black. And after 10 minutes, all dots turn black. The indicator disc stops rotating, but the second hand continues to move.

Highly intelligent and precisely designed for the starting phase of a sailing regatta!

This magnificent piece of watch history comes in a full set with box and instruction manual and runs continuously (accuracy not tested).

EZ: 1-2 barely noticeable signs of age or wear on the watch, runs smoothly, textile strap with leather strap has noticeable signs of wear, but we left it on because it's presumably original. Two screws are missing from the hinge of the original wooden box, which need to be replaced, so it's currently somewhat unstable, but complete and undamaged.

Lemania movement 1873 , which was on the moon in 1969 as Omega caliber 861 .

Swiss watch and movement manufacturers

The company was founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin under the name Lugrin SA in L'Orient Vallée de Joux . Lugrin acquired his expertise as a laborer at Jaeger-LeCoultre in Le Sentier . He specialized in the manufacture of chronographs , stopwatches , and repeater watches . In 1895, the company moved into its own factory building in L'Orient.

In 1932 , Lemania, Omega , and Tissot merged to form the SSIH Group . Lemania rose to prominence when its Lemania 1873 movement was selected by NASA in 1962 and used in the Omega Speedmaster Professional (as Omega Caliber 861 ), which in turn caused a sensation in 1969 when it was used on the moon. This movement was developed by Albert Gustave Piguet .

In 1977, Lemania separated from SSIH through a management buyout and changed its name to Nouvelle Lemania. In 1992, Nouvelle Lemania joined the Breguet Horloger Group and was acquired by the Swatch Group along with Breguet in 1999 .

Lemania and Nouvelle Lemania movements enjoyed a good reputation among experts. The Lemania 5100 automatic chronograph movement , whose production was discontinued at the end of 2002 , became known for its robustness and reliability.
