Original Leonidas extremely rare and sought-after example of an early artillery cam chronograph of the German Navy of the First World War in authentic gunmetal.
The Swiss military and precision watch manufacturer Leonidas was and is known for its extremely high-quality chronographs and stopwatches, especially before and during World War II.
This rare piece is made particularly rare and authentic by its dial, specially developed for artillery use, with a calibrated tachymeter scale starting at 150 meters.
A super rare piece of military and naval watch history, the likes of which only very rarely come onto the market.
Description:
This 100% original and heavy cam-operated chronograph features unusually large dimensions: a 60mm case diameter, an unrestored, unsigned white dial with two subdials, a 30-minute counter, and an indirect seconds display, exhibiting minor damage. It has an onion crown for winding and for starting and stopping the chronograph function.
Spotlessly clean, signed "Leonidas" piece, three-covered clock, both covers close perfectly flush and rock-solid.
The stopwatch is fully functional! Signed movement in pristine condition, case and crystal show minimal signs of age or use, unrestored dial with a repair at the "7" and two very small chips to the right of the "2" outside the scale.
EZ: 2, good collector's condition, unrestored dial with the aforementioned damage! Normal, noticeable signs of age and use. Winds smoothly, starts and runs, accuracy not tested.
