Story

The brothers Charles Robert and Hyppolite Robert founded the company in 1858 H. & C. Robert . It initially worked as Establisher from Pocket watches . Preferably, Fontainmelon movements were used. In 1878, the sons Charles and Georges took over the management of the company. From 1885, Yvan Robert also participated in the company management; the company name was changed to Robert Frères Villeret (Gebrüder Robert) and the new company logo RFV introduced. In 1885 Robert Frères Villeret at the World Exhibition in Antwerp and in 1889 at the Paris World Exhibition At both exhibitions the company won medals for its watches.

From 1895 onwards Robert Freres Villeret with the production of own Clockworks and pocket watch cases in Nickel - and Silver version ; however, the case production was discontinued in 1931. Until the turn of the century, the company of Roberts Söhne continuously became a real watch manufacturer restructured. The first Minerva caliber was a pocket watch movement with Cylinder escapement .

1908 began Robert Frères Villeret with the production of Chronographs and stopwatches. From 1920 onwards, the ebauches gilded in the in-house workshop. In 1923, the brand Minerva introduced, and in 1929 the company was founded in Minerva SA, Villeret renamed.

In 1934, Minerva SA was taken over by Charles Haussener and Jacques Pelot. Business was particularly good in Second World War , during which 12,000 movements and watches were sold, many of them to the Swiss Army, which still purchases mechanical stopwatches from Minerva. [2]

In 1955, Minerva's shares passed to Jacques Pelot's nephew and heir, André Frey, and in 1960, Charles Haussener's son-in-law, Maurice Favre, inherited his shares. Frey and Favre managed the company until 1989, after which Jean-Jacques Frey took over management of the company jointly with his father, André Frey.
