The special trick of the Rüter clock is/was that it has a compass and could thus always be aligned north and displays precise time in all places in Europe To read the time, the pocket sundial is held horizontally in the sun, then the brass button on the underside is pressed, which causes the dial to align in a north-south direction. After the dial has come to rest, the time can be read from the shadow of the gnomon. Diameter approx. 5.3 cm The Rüter clock is in excellent condition, never used, dial flawlessly preserved Condition: 1* - all top, no signs of age or wear, not even on the plexiglass domeHistory of the Dr. Rüter Sundial (Source: Südkurier online): |
