Offered is a super rare and sought-after example of Glashütte watch history: a 900 Sterling silver men's pocket watch from the Glashütte precision watch factory Ernst Kasiske, which only existed for a few years
Pocket watches from the Glashütte Precision Watch Factory are much, much rarer than those from Julius Assmann or even Lange & Söhne. For this reason, the rare examples that still reach the collector market command significantly higher prices than those from other Glashütte manufacturers.

Description:

Luxury men's pocket watch from the German precision watch factory Ernst Kasiske Glashütte

Case made of fine 900 sterling silver, from around 1920

Hallmarks including fineness and manufacturer's mark, case and movement no. 300826

Smooth case, white enamel dial with Arabic indices and seconds dial at 6 o'clock, blued hands. Diameter: a whopping 55 mm, weight: approx. 118.5 g, enamel of the otherwise flawless original dial minimally damaged (see photos).

The ultra-fine, typical Glashütte 3/4 plate construction, precision movement features a screwed chaton and a high-quality swan-neck fine adjustment (also typical for Glashütte pocket watches of the era) as well as Geneva stripe finish as known from the "1A quality" of Lange & Söhne

This super rare piece of Glashütte watch history runs continuously (accuracy not tested)

EZ: 1 -2 - little noticeable signs of age or wear except for mini scratches / marks from opening, works perfectly, dial is in good condition except for the mentioned mini flaw, which is not visible when the bezel is closed and a 1.5cm, barely visible mini hairline crack above the "2" (see photos) Watch starts immediately and through

Glashütte Precision Watch Factory AG

Story

Glashütte Precision Watch Factory AG

In 1904, Ernst Kasiske began a collaboration with the Berlin watch wholesaler Gebr. Loeske. This collaboration led to the founding of Glashütter Präzisions- Uhren- Fabrik AG that same year, to which Kasiske sold his company, founded in 1890 , and his real estate.

Kasiske himself did not become a shareholder, but merely an employed managing director. The company produced—as Kasiske had previously done with his own company—Glashütte precision pocket watches, primarily caliber 43, with all the well-known Glashütte construction features. A special feature is the Glashütte gold lever escapement with lever travel limitation, based on Kasiske's patent.

The serial numbering began with 100001. Whether Glashütter Präzisions-Uhren-Fabrik AG became a member of the Swiss Horlogere Union in place of the defunct Assmann company is currently unknown, but it is suspected. In any case, the Loeske brothers also had a business presence in Biel, Switzerland.

Precision Pocket Watch Factory Ernst Kasiske

In 1901 the name of the company was changed to Precision Pocket Watch Factory Ernst Kasiske .

From 1913 onwards, the Ernst Kasiske Precision Pocket Watch Factory produced not only Glashütte pocket watches but also wristwatches , making it the first company in Glashütte to commit to mass production of this product group. In 1918 , at the German Watchmakers' War Conference in Leipzig, the decision was made to take over the company on a cooperative basis. The shareholders of Glashütte Precision Watch Factory AG were willing to sell land and inventory, such as machinery and materials, for 500,000 marks. The purchase was completed, and everything was taken over by the newly founded Deutsche Präzisionsuhrenfabrik Glashütte eGmbH.
