Sandoz & Breitmeyer original 0.900 sterling silver relief shooting watch "Schützenfest Tirol Federal Neuchatel 1898"
Every connoisseur and collector knows that original marksmen's watches - especially from such a well-known manufacturer and on the occasion of a large, historical marksmen's festival - are very rare and highly sought after on the collector's market.
Description:
Rarest Sandoz & Breitmeyer Marksman's Watch "Marksmen's Festival Tirol Federal Neuchatel 1898"
Rare open pocket watch "Schützenuhr Neuchâtel 1898." 900 silver, including dust cover, hand-wound movement signed "Sandoz & Breitmeyer" with lever escapement, bimetallic balance, and blued Breguet hairspring. The profile features an engraved laurel wreath, a relief city coat of arms with an eagle motif on the Swiss cross (also re-engraved), and the inscription: "Tir Federal de Neuchâtel 1898"
Functional. Two-piece white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, Louis XV-style hands. Used condition, back cover heavily rubbed, lettering difficult to read, diameter approx. 55 mm without crown.
Attention: the case is used and rubbed, but the embossings and signatures shown in the pictures and described below are still visible, but difficult to read on the top of the bezel and on the edge
It definitely says: "Tir (for Tyrol), Federal, possibly a "de", Neuchatel, 1898
The magnificent, extremely rare shooting watch starts and runs continuously (accuracy not tested)
EZ: 2 - 3 - technically good condition considering its age, all lids close flush, dial with a very thin, star-shaped crack, relief case has noticeable wear and is difficult to read, but all details are still visible
