Carl W. Höhnel super rare original Glashütte SA pocket watch, gold-plated, circa 1930
Among connoisseurs and collectors of original Glashütte pocket watches, a genuine Carl W. Höhner pocket watch is as rare to find as a needle in a haystack
Höhnel initially trained as a watchmaker at what was then the world's best watch manufacturer: Lange & Söhne in Glashütte. After subsequently passing his master craftsman's examination, he set up his own manufacturing business and, above all, made a name for himself with precision pendulum clocks
From about 1920, Höhnel also produced high-quality pocket watches, such as the example in this offer
Description:
Case diameter: 50mm, 20 micron gold-plated, triple-case watch with inner movement dust cover
Golden dial with inner, Arabic 12-hour scale and outer, continuous 24h scale, elegantly blued hands, gold-plated case finely guillochéd with Art Deco rhombus pattern (see photos)
Photos and details of the movement to follow shortly

History of the small Glashütte watch manufacture Carl W. Höhnel Glashütte SA:
Karl Wilhelm Höhnel (1885–1936)
- Born on 21 April 1885 in Altenberg (Saxony).
- In 1904, he completed an apprenticeship at A. Lange & Söhne and later passed his master craftsman's examination as a watchmaker. Interestingly: In a staff list of A. Lange & Söhne from 1904, he actually appears as “Höhnel, Carl”, watchmaker, 19 years old.
- On 12 July 1916, he founded his "Workshop for Watchmaking, Precision Hard Turning and Fine Mechanics" in Glashütte, initially at Markt 11, later at Hauptstraße 60.
- Among other things, he manufactured precision pendulum clocks, mantel clocks and pocket watches. His Glashütte mantel clocks with chimes, which he produced from about 1922 onwards, became particularly well known.
- His company used, among others, the designations "K. Höhnel / Glashütte" and "H / Karl W. Höhnel / Glashütte i.Sa.".
- Karl Wilhelm Höhnel died on 27 December 1936
