On offer is no less than a piece of German watch / television / radio and technology history:
A signed mechanical (table) stopwatch from the Hessischer Rundfunk, manufacturer unknown, according to the inventory number of the Hessischer Rundfunk probably from 1957
Both mechanical movements were started/stopped with the buttons visible in the pictures
The museum piece starts and runs, works and stops perfectly
Case dimensions: 18cm x 11cm x 7cm
This wonderful piece of television history needs a bit of attention and repair, but there is no serious damage:
- Housing is complete but unstable, must be fixed with adhesive on the side, one screw does not grip, bottom is loose, still has the original screws, but these must be replaced in the frame
- one mineral glass (seconds display) is loose (and possibly 1mm - 2mm too large), shows grinding marks/scratches and would need to be ground in), the other, presumably original, has many small age cracks/hairline cracks (see pictures) and could be replaced
- no elevator key included
- the 4 complete standing knobs made of presumably cork are brittle, but complete and functional
EZ: 3 - clear and visible signs of wear due to decades of use, glasses with scratches and many hairline cracks
